While most folks know these wings as the Chicken Wings from the Best of Bridge series, we call them Aunt Jane’s Chicken Wings. Aunt Jane introduced my mom to these years ago, and in classic Aunt Jane style, she discovered a method to improve the chicken wings’ flavour. We use special flavouring in the way we prepare chicken wings.

Take a guess what we put on these wings. That’s correct; we season our wings with garlic powder. It gets a whole different taste after adding some garlic to it. It’s like sprinkling some magic on top of branches and finally getting the wings you always wanted.

  • 3 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 medium egg slightly beaten
  • 1 cup plain flour for coating
  • 1 cup butter

For Sauce


  • Preheat the oven to 350 Degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Combine the flour, pepper, and garlic powder in a mixing bowl.
  • After dipping the chicken wings in the egg, coat them with flour.
  • Melt the butter and oil in a large, deep pan over medium-high heat. Fry the wings in hot oil until golden brown and crisp, place in a single layer in a large roasting pan.
  • Mix the soy sauce, water, sugar, vinegar, garlic powder, and salt in a small mixing basin. Pour the sauce over the wings.
  • Bake for 30 to 45 minutes in a preheated oven, basting wings often with sauce.
  • Remove and serve immediately!
