How does the flavor compare to hulled toasted sesame seeds?

The flavor of unhulled sesame is very similar to the hulled sesame seeds.

Does the black come off when soaked? Wanting to know if they are ink-dyed

It is possible a very small amount of black sesame seeds could be in your package. We do not dye our sesame seeds and sesame seeds come in both white and black colors.

Can you eat these raw, like sprinkled over a salad?

Yes, you definitely can!

No, these are only for cooking.

Does It Have Soy?

Sesame Seeds are not a soy product.

High oil foods go rancid quickly. How fresh are these and how have they been stored?

Sesame seeds should be stored in an airtight container. Unrefrigerated seeds can be kept in a cool, dry place for up to three months. If you refrigerate the seeds, they will last up to six months; frozen ones will be good for up to one year.

What are these supposed to smell like?

They have a pleasant nutty oily smell.
