General Information
Lime is a citrus fruit, typically round, green, and contains acidic juice vesicles.
Lime Extract and Lime juice are popular ingredients in desserts and baked goods, such as Key lime pie, cookies, and ice cream. This citrusy flavour can also be used in savoury dishes to add flavour to alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
It is made from the essential oil of fresh Lime skin that’s mixed with alcohol and water. The lime extract is different from lime juice and has a full and complex aroma. It’s similar to the flavour of lemon extract, but it’s much less concentrated and very acidic
The Best way to use Lime Extract
Lime Extract is a potent flavouring and should be used in small amounts. Just a teaspoon will add a little twist to fudge, salsa, dip, or drinks.
It’s a great substitute for lime juice in desserts in which the lime flavour is key. However, you may need to add additional liquid, as it’s highly concentrated. For instance, if a recipe calls for two tablespoons of lime juice, substitute one tablespoon of lime extract and one tablespoon of water.
You can use it to flavour desserts, dressings, baked goods, and homemade beverages. Try our lime extract in your cakes, pies, cheesecakes, and cookies.
Storage
Keep the extract in a cool, dry area away from heat and direct light in an airtight sealed container. Its shelf time is up to 2 years.
