General information
The origin of vanilla is a plant named orchid, and these pods are made of flat-leaved species. It is native to the south and centre of America and mostly the Caribbean. There are different kinds of vanilla by their species named vanilla Planifolia, vanilla Tahitiensis, and vanilla Pompona that have other characteristics. More than seven tones of this product are produced worldwide but mainly originated from Madagascar or Mexico. An important note about this product is the allergic reactions by smelling vanilla pods or using the extract.
Best way to use vanilla pods
This great product has different kinds of usage by different appearance of that. We can find it like beans, extract, powder and paste of vanilla, so its usage will differ. If you are using pods, the best way is to cut the pod in two and split them. Then, you have to scrape the pods by the back of a knife to have parts with the smell and flavour of vanilla. If you want to have the taste ultimately, put the pod in your drink or paste and after mixing and getting the flavour and smell you want, separate it by sifting.
Storage
A dark cabinet will be the best place to store vanilla pods. You have to put them inside a tightly sealed container, whether the jar is of glass or using bag-in-bag plastics, but be aware of storing this product away from sunlight and heat.
