When you use vanilla sugar, the texture is noticeably different from white or brown sugar. It usually contains tiny bits of vanilla bean or seeds.

How to Use Vanilla Sugar
Vanilla sugar has a very basic formula. It is just a mixture of vanilla powder with sugar. Nevertheless, it is a tricky combination.
Instead of using vanilla extract in your recipes, you can use the vanilla sugar instead. When replacing vanilla extract, add one extra teaspoon of a liquid ingredient per 1/2 tablespoons of vanilla sugar to make up for the added liquid from the vanilla extract.
Storage
Vanilla sugar should be stored in an airtight container which is kept in a dark place, away from heat and humidity. If kept in a cool, dark place such as a pantry, it will keep up to 2 years.
