Very popular in China, oolong tea is a traditional tea which is made from the leaves of a plant called Camellia sinensis. This plant is also used to make green and black tea. Oolong tea differs from green and black tea in the method in which it is made. Tea leaves contain enzymes that cause oxidation, a chemical reaction. The process of oxidation results in the darkening of green tea leaves. The oxidation of green tea is not permitted. Black tea, on the other hand, is left to oxidize until it is fully black.

Since oolong tea is partially between the two, it is partly oxidized. The colour and distinctive flavour of the oolong tea is due to this partial oxidation, which varies between brands and can range from green to dark brown.

Natural Moreish offers a 100% natural green oolong tea with no additives or preservatives. Keep this delicious and beneficial tea in an air-tight container in a dark and cool place. Storing it in the refrigerator may help you keep it fresh for a longer period.

General Information

The word “oolong” comes from the Chinese Wu Long, which means “Black Dragon.” And it’s easy to see why: Oolong Tea is a multi-faceted, complex, and fascinating tea that is as magical as its name suggests.

Though various oolongs are processed differently, they typically have two distinct appearances: others are rolled into long curly leaves, while others are ‘wrap-curled’ into short beads with tails. In China, the first style is more conventional.

Our Green Oolong Teas come from some of the world’s best tea plantations in China, Indonesia, Taiwan, and other countries.

Delicious Ways to Use Green Oolong Tea

The easiest method would be to put a green oolong tea teabag in a cup of boiling water. Then steep for 2–5 minutes, depending on how good you want the flavour to be. It is best to consume the tea while it is still warm.

Serving and Portion Size

Since green oolong tea contains some caffeine, it is advised to drink it in moderation. To avoid disrupting your night sleep, it is advised to drink two cups of green oolong tea, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

As you may know, caffeine consumption in access can cause headaches, anxiety, irregular heartbeat, irritable bowel syndrome and inflammation. Therefore, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a significant medical condition affected by caffeine intake, you should consult your doctor before drinking this tea.

Keep your teas dry and away from any humidity. Dampness and moisture will shorten the tea’s lifetime and also allow mould to develop.

Tea will absorb the scent of anything stored nearby, which is why we still suggest storing your teabags away from strong scents. This may imply that a kitchen cabinet, especially spice cabinets and pantries, is not the best option for storing your teabags.
